I Don't Want You As A Ghost -
Well I want you as you are
Not some collapsing star
I'll wait I'll wait for good
What else can I do
I don't want you as a ghost
I don't want you as a fading light
I don't want to be the weight you carry
I just want to be the man you come home to every night
Well I want you as you are
Don't be someone you're not
The kids that we once were
They wouldn't know us now
I don't want you as a ghost
I don't want you as a fading light
I don't want to be the weight you carry
I just want to be the man you come home to every night

All The Way With You - John Prine
Had dinner with a beautiful, smart, witty and accomplished friend last night. She and her husband are huge John Prine fans and I'm so embarrassed to say that with the thousands of songs in my iTunes, I have no John Prine. This of course, is a terrible crime and intend to correct the dire situation right away.
Last night she played this song for me - "All The Way With You". The lyrics are so beautiful and Prine's voice is velvet and deep. So authentic. We listened to it together and talked about another dear person in my life. This is that song.
Love gives
Love takes
It takes a lot of lucky breaks
Lucky strikes
Lucky stars
I don't know how I got this far
Who knows where it's coming from
Or where it's going to
Can I go all the way with you?
You have your way
You have your doubts
The falling in
The falling out
A bridge is built
A bridge is burned
Till you reach the point of no return
Don't know where we're coming from
Or where we're going to
Can I go all the way with you?
Heaven knows that this ain't nothing new
God knows how much I love you
Love comes
Love goes
Can I go all the way with you?
Can I go all the way with you?

Sweet Nuthin
Caught this song on satellite radio on the way between Peachland to Merritt this past July. It's My Morning Jacket doing their amazing cover of Oh! Sweet Nuthin'. I got sweet nothin too because it doesn't exist on iTunes. Where the hell else do you get your music?
I just don't care for the voice of The Velvet Underground guy. I love Jim James' voice. It's just better to me. He does an outstanding rendition of it. And Channel 29 has it - someone must know how the hec to get it!

Harry Nilsson
Harry Nilsson isn't the household name it deserves to be, but not unlike Jimmy Webb, Harry Nilsson was responsible for the some of the most recognized pop songs of the 60's and 70's.
The documentary Who Is Harry Nilsson? is now playing on Netflix.
The film Midnight Cowboy was highlighted by its folk-roots soundtrack hit, "Everybody's Talkin'" and ironically, wasn't written by the prolific Nilsson. Nevertheless, the song was a huge hit and earned the Grammy, as the 1969 film took Best Picture at the Academy Awards.

Clair de Lune, Claude Debussy's musical interpretation of Paul Verlaine's poem
Your soul is a chosen landscape
Where charming masqueraders and bergamaskers go
Playing the lute and dancing and almost
Sad beneath their fanciful disguises.
All sing in a minor key
Of victorious love and the opportune life,
They do not seem to believe in their happiness
And their song mingles with the moonlight,
With the still moonlight, sad and beautiful,
That sets the birds dreaming in the trees
And the fountains sobbing in ecstasy,
The tall slender fountains among marble statues.
