Tenor Great, opera icon, Luciano Pavarotti, has passed away this day at his home in Modena, Italy. An amazing talent and a larger than life personality, he made opera accessible, consumable and "au courant". He revitalized an art form for modern culture. And nobody - nobody, sings the aria, Nessun Dorma, better. He made Puccini's Turandot in my opinion. While others might argue that Giuseppe DeStefano had performed it best, to me, it is the definitive Pavarotti performance. Nessun Dorma, "None shall sleep".
